1. To get the classic white and grey marble look, apply one or two coats of white as the base coat.

3. Also, add tiny dots of the white you put on your nails on top of the previous dots
Using a detail brush, swirl around the colors into an organic free-form shape. You can go over the squiggly lines by dipping the brush in thinner or alcohol to create a blurred look.

How to Remove Acrylic Nails without Acetone – Guide

May 7, 2020 by Cherile Iceman Leave a Comment

How to Remove Acrylic Nails without Acetone - Guide

Hey, Lovelies!!! Do you know the most popular method for removing acrylic nails is soaking them in acetone. However, acetone can cause skin irritation and drying. This article will guide you with stepwise instructions on removing acrylic nails without using acetone.

The best solution for removing acrylic nails is to go to a salon and seek the help of a professional. A manicurist is a trained and experienced beauty technician, who is the right person to go to when it comes to removing acrylic nails in a safe and painless way.

The nail bed is the living part of the nail, and if you try removing the acrylic nails yourself, you might end up damaging the nail bed. So, it is advisable for you to seek help from a manicurist.

However, if you wish to remove acrylic nails yourself, there are many acetone-free nail polish removers which you can use.

Removing Acrylic Nails Without Acetone

If you want to know how to take off acrylic nails yourself without acetone, then the things required for nail removal are:

  • Newspaper
  • Hand towels
  • Nail polish remover (‘acetone-free’)
  • Big bowl
  • Petroleum jelly
  • Orange sticks
  • Nail filer and buffer
  • Moisturizer
All right, now that you have gathered all the things you need, let’s get started.

Step #1

Spread newspaper sheets on the surface of the place where you will be working on your nails. Fill the bowl with nail polish remover. The amount should be enough to soak your fingertips. Coat the fingertips and cuticle of the nails with petroleum jelly, and soak your fingertips in the bowl.

Step #2

Soak only your fingertips and not the entire hand. Keep the nails dipped in the solution for about 20 minutes. The acrylic gel will start softening and dissolving.

Step #3

With the orange sticks, scrape off the acrylic gel and wipe with a towel. If the gel doesn’t come off easily, then soak your nails in the remover again for a couple of more minutes, and scrape off the acrylic gel with the orange sticks. However, be very careful that you do not scrape off the nail surface under the acrylic nail coat.

Step #4

After the entire acrylic coat is scraped off the nails, wash your hands with warm water and dry them with a towel. Get rid of any small bits of acrylic left on your nails by using a nail buffer.

Step #5

The whole process of removing acrylic nails tends to dry the skin, as you will be dipping your fingers in nail polish remover. Also, scraping nails and washing hands removes moisture. Hence, apply a good moisturizer to soothe your skin.

Other Methods for Acrylic Nail Removal

Above was the method that you can use to take off acrylic nails at home without acetone. Here are some more alternative methods for acrylic nail removal without using acetone.

Acetone-Free Lacquer Removers

Instead of soaking your nails in acetone, you could opt for commercially available products most of which are acetone-free lacquer removers. It helps to break down the glue that sticks the acrylic nails to your natural nails. Soaking your nails in this solution will help in easy removal of acrylic nails.

Rubbing Alcohol

You can dip your fingertips in rubbing alcohol, instead of acetone to remove the acrylic nails. The whole process of removing acrylic nails will take around half an hour.

Dental Floss with Nail Polish

Many people use dental floss combined with nail polish remover, to scrape off acrylic nails. However, this method is not advisable as it can be painful and damage the surface of the natural nails.

Hot Water

People try soaking acrylic nails in hot water, rather than using nail polish remover. But this method is not effective and does not help in easy removal of acrylic nail paint coat.

Some Advice

Even though there are many ways to take off acrylic nails without acetone, these methods are not that effective. Also, these methods take time and you need to rub your nails harder to remove the acrylic nails. Acetone is safe-enough if you use it properly.

Also, using acetone to remove the nails leaves a greasy residue on the nails, so make sure you wash your hands well after using acetone. Acetone dries your skin, but if you apply a good amount of moisturizer after using acetone, your skin should remain fine. If you have dry or brittle nails then avoid applying acrylic nails, as it can further damage the nails.
Now, you know the different methods to remove acrylic nails. But, do remember to scrape off acrylic designs slowly and with patience, as it is important that you do not harm your natural nail surface while taking off false nails.

Top 15 manicure tricks for a perfect mani at home

Hey Lovelies!!! There’s nothing like a great manicure to leave you feeling pampered, but sometimes doing your nails at home can be time-consuming. However, there are easy tricks you can do not only to save time and money but also to achieve a glossy look without having to go to the salon.

hellomagazine.com

We look at the top 15 tips and tricks for a perfect manicure at home.

  • Dry nails in iced water

If you haven’t got the patience to wait for your nails to dry, leave them for thirty seconds then dip them in a bowl of iced water – this will dry nails in seconds.

  • Make a homemade dot tool

You can easily create your own nail patterns by sticking a pin into a pencil eraser. Dip the head into your nail varnish and dot away.

  • Coat your cuticles with Vaseline

This will protect the skin around your cuticles from erroneous polish strokes. Just swipe away with a cotton bud for a mess-free manicure.

  • Use clear plasters for French tips

Cut a plaster in half then stick it to your nail, leaving a small gap on your tip. Then coat your tip color and use the plaster as a safety net for any shaky hand slip-ups.

  • Use a white base for bright colors

Painting your nails white before applying your color can really make them pop. This works especially well with sheer polishes like neon colors.

  • Match colors to your skin tone

Nude shades are still huge but make sure you match the right color to your skin tone. Fair ladies should go for sheer pinks and creamy blushes whilst olive tone lovelies should stick to soft peaches.

  • Use toothpaste to get rid of stains

If you have a stubborn deep red stain left after your manicure, try scrubbing them with a nailbrush and toothpaste.

  • Prep for glitter nail polish removal

Try using craft glue as a base coat before applying glitter polish. When you’re ready to change your look, the polish will peel easily off – no more hours of torn cotton pads!

  • Use a pencil to place gems

If you’re getting creative with nail art, try placing adhesive gems with a pencil. Tweezers usually send them flying but using the lead of a pencil will easily pick them up.

  • Roll polish bottles instead of shaking them

Shaking nail varnish can cause tiny air bubbles, which will only rise once you’ve painted your nail. Try rolling it between the palms of your hand instead to mix the color.

  • Use make-up sponges for nail art

Makeup sponges can be used to created ombre, gradient or spider web nails.

  • Create nail varnish with eyeshadow

If you’ve got a broken eyeshadow, don’t despair. Mix the pigments together with some clear nail varnish to create a brand new nail color.

  • Clean nails with distilled vinegar

Before applying your polish, clean your nails with a cotton bud soaked in a little-distilled vinegar. The clean surface will help your manicure last.

  • Apply in multiple thin coats

To get your polish to dry faster, apply three thin coats as opposed to one or two thick layers.

  • Use a slanted eyeshadow brush to clean up

If you’ve had some slip-ups, dip a slanted eyeshadow brush into some nail polish remover for easy maneuvering.
